Jack Wilson was once the hottest bush pilot flying Alaska hunting parties everywhere. He often landed on glaciers where no other man dared to go. Judge George W. Folta killed over 200 Alaska bears in his career. Alaska Brown Bear feared him while vicious criminals in his court room reviled him. He was a more recent “Teddy Roosevelt” personality. Folta once killed three 10-foot Kodiak Brown Bears with a 1906 .35 Remington autoloader while swashed with only a knapsack. He averaged four to six Alaska bears each year until he died while bear hunting in Alaska in 1955.

Master guide Bud Conkle was an original old-time Alaska big game guide. His Dall Sheep hunts were epic. His Grizzley Bear forays were electrifying.
